On Being Like Christ… What does that really mean?

On “Being Like CHRIST”

So many bible passages extol us to “BE LIKE CHRIST”.  So many churches and pastors and do gooders want us to BE LIKE CHRIST.  But what does this mean?

The Old Testament was the Word of GOD, given to Moses, who was charged with LIVING OUT THE WORD of GOD, advancing it, making it ALIVE in the world he lived in by being a leader and teacher.  But over time, it became institutionalized, interpreted, and fossilized - until Priests told the common man what it meant.  They all paid tithes to feel good. 

They created synagogues and other earthly political institutions to govern and otherwise control the affairs of man until there was no more spirit in it.

God our Father chose to heal this DEAD WORLD and DEAD SPIRIT and DEAD PEOPLE condition by becoming/sending CHRIST. 

AS Savior, CHRIST had to live a perfect life and then pay the price of sin for all who did not.  This is a great gift but it is not the end of the work of His life on earth.  There is MORE than salvation to learn and MORE than salvation to consider when it comes to BEING LIKE CHRIST.  

This teaching is not milk and is not for babes.  I am not here repeating the teaching that causes religion to get stuck in endless repetitions.  Save them, save them save them.  OK… but let’s move on.  As we mature in the faith, we are to put away the things of a child and press onward toward the prize of our holy calling!

So, if providing salvation we only one of CHRIST’s jobs or purposes on earth (certainly foundational but not the whole story), then what was the other?  He was a model, a teacher (Rabbi). 

CHRIST was charged with LIVING OUT the WORD of GOD, advancing it, making it ALIVE in the world he lived in.  But over time, it became institutionalized, interpreted, and fossilized - until Priests and Pastors and Radio Talk Show Hosts told the common man what it meant.  They all paid tithes and supported good causes to feel good.  They created Churches and Charities, and movements, and stadium events and other earthly political institutions to govern and otherwise control the affairs of man until there was no more spirit in it.

THIS IS THE TRAGEDY OF MODERN CHRISTIANITY 

Stop and realize:  if CHRIST was also named Emmanual - meaning “GOD WITH US” in Hebrew - and if we are to be LIKE Him then isn’t that the promise of the resurrection and the presence of the HOLY SPIRIT? 

We are to become GOD WITH US. 

It is now up to US (YOU AND ME AND EVERY BELIEVER) to be LIVING OUT the WORD of GOD, advancing it, making it ALIVE in the world WE live in. 

And so, shall we reject the old and profess something entirely new?  Well, when new agers talk like this, the Traditional Christian Church starts forgetting about unconditional love and it’s charge to be Christlike. 

Verily, verily I say unto you….  Behold all things are made new.  You are a new creation.  There will a new heaven and a new earth. 

This teaching is not meant to deny the gospel but to advance beyond salvation and beyond rote reading of dead ink and beyond becoming slaves to priests and pastors and controlling spirits.

BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: I PRAY YOU EMBRACE YOUR FREEDOM - REFUSE THE CONTROL OF DEAD INSTITUTIONS - EMBRACE YOUR POWER - WALK WHERE OTHERS FEAR TO TREAD - RAISE THE DEAD - GIVE LIFE TO THOSE YOU LOVE - BRING PEACE AND LOVE AND HEALING TO THOSE IN NEED - LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE.

BE THE WAY, TRUTH, and LIGHT through whom others come to know what it means to be saved from sin and guilt and empowered to live the life that God intended for them - according to their bent.

This Too is Spirit - Dark Night of the Soul

The spirit life is not all rainbows and roses…  Sometimes it is about keeping up one’s “walk” or maintaining appearances for the sake of those who look to you for testimony.   Sometimes it is about suffering and merely surviving.  This has been called the Dark Night of the Soul.

Huge victories are won by persevering in faith even if appearances cannot be maintained during the battle.  Believers emerge from the other side of such experiences deeper, stronger, more fully prepared for some special calling or mission or work.

On the following - I wonder - do you think of this as a failed spiritual condition or one that is standing up against an attack from the other side?

I am God ?

Hello?  This may shake some of you.  It may sound like Heresy.  Don’t leave in disgust…  Let’s talk about it!

If Christianity teaches that we should all want to be Like Christ, or Christlike, then let’s consider:

Christ said, if you have seen ME you have seen the FATHER.  Hmm….  What if we said that?

This gets dangeriously close to the new age position, I AM GOD…  But… It’s a fulfillment of the teaching that we should die so Christ may live.

What do you make of this?  Dangerous waters?  Anybody want to go for a walk?

Economy To Get Worse Before It Gets Better?

I shared an email with a friend recently. It was a quote from Charles Swindoll about Attitude Determining Altitude.

I was trying to share “HOPE”…

He replied with brief thanks for the encouragement……. … and then he went right on to share a link to a HORRIBLE VIDEO NEWS REPORT about how the economy is going to get worse before it gets better.

Now don’t get me wrong when I say this video news report is HORRIBLE.  It is actually well done, and probably accurate.  But it is so discouraging when such a HORRIBLE SET OF PREDICTIONS are made by some news pundit (currently playing on yahoo finance page).

SO MY QUESTION FOR YOU TODAY is - WHAT (or WHO) ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE?

I serve a risen savior, have access to the self same power that raised him from the dead, command an army of angels, and cannot be overcome.  I believe the author/creator of it ALL who said darkness cannot overcome light.

I encourage you to turn the news off and create your own future - independent of the herd!

OK…  OK… Reality does have to be dealt with. I know… But only by “EARTH PEOPLE” : )

Those of us who are spiritual can walk on water, part the red sea, feed thousands with little, and otherwise “bind and loose” with help from our Father in Heaven.  If you don’t know what this power is, “to bind and loose” then search an online bible or get your butt to a church that lives it and JOIN IN!

So… Soldier…  (In my best General Patton Voice) It’s time to get up, out of that bunker, and charge straight into the face of the enemy - just to prove it can be done.

This enemy might be called the NIGHTLY NEWS, or BAD NEWS (AKA “Troubling Spirits” in OT Lexicon). IT’S TIME TO TAKE SOME GROUND FOR THE KINGDOM, AND SHOW THE WORLD AND THE ENEMY THAT WE CAN DO WHAT MERE MORTALS CANNOT!

When we go forward with hope, that shines a light into a dark place.  People will want to know what drives us…  That’s when we can share a testimony with great result!

When it’s over, and the day is done, and you have accomplished your miracle…  Share - Teach - Show the WAY : )

Oh, yeah… LEST WE FORGET - Each day is new, so…. you get to win, and accomplish miracles, and share, teach, show the way - EVERY DAY : )

Christiany ~ Spiritual Power ~ Do You Have It?

Christianity teaches that believers have the help of a POWER not available to those who do not believe… right?  Or at least that we have more POWER than other spiritual disciplines…

Spiritual power… what is that?  Do you have it?

Can you know things others don’t?  Walk on water?  Heal the Sick?  Raise the Dead?

Is that what Spiritual Power means?

Is the “CHURCH” wrecking Christianity by corrupting the message of Christ?

Do denominations and pastors use a supposed superior knowledge of spiritual things to control and exploit the weak?

Is it all a control game to keep spiritual power away from the common person?

Or is it merely that the CHURCH is made up of imperfect people doing the best they can with what they have?

Do CHURCHES fulfill the great commission and make the world a better place

One Nation, Under God - The Lincoln Bible, MLK, & Dreams

Today is a historic day in our U S of A.

We swear in a new President.  A Black President.

Barack Hussein Obama insists on using Lincoln’s Bible.  Lincoln was certainly the progenitor of Emancipation.  I imagine this is the impetus.  There is no escaping the references to Martin Luther King either.  His dream for racial equality in America seems to have matured into a reality.

It’s kind of odd, to be so focused on racial symbolism when this candidate all but avoided Race as in issue during his campaign.  Barack, like many before him, seems to have campaigned on one set of values and then changed his tune a bit once elected.  His budget and recovery package ideas are already set to cost double or triple what he spoke of during the campaign.  And now race is a big issue instead of a non-issue.

It’s obvious that this would be a proud moment for Black Americans, and I certainly marvel at it.  I don’t begrudge it in any way.  It just happens that I preferred it be a non issue.  Isn’t that the point of racial equality anyway?

But this is still America, and I trust that the race card will soon go back into the deck of cards Obama has been dealt, or is dealing from…  Whatever comes, Barack cannot permit race to be a lightning rod for criticism of his handling of the historical and monumental challenges facing his new Presidency.

And so I ask….  is race even an issue?  Really?  Don’t we all have a dream?

I have a dream for an America led by a servant of the Most High God.  I look for One who can bring favor and blessing of the Almighty on our land.  I dream of One who can marshall the angels from the four corners of the heavens, and bring healing, hope, spring rain to a parched land.

Oh, yes - let there be a recovery plan, a job corp, and international diplomacy.  But even more, let the fervent prayers of the Righteous rise to our Father in heaven like smoke of incense from the alter of uncut and living stones.

We who believe are the living stones.

We are ready, as a nation, for a new chapter in our mission to be a light on a hill.

And so, I pray - Let there be light!

I know it’s only football, and you might be kind of busy with bigger things…

But could you let the iron curtain be born again!
